DRUM/DRYER/MIXER - patented in 1983- no. 19090A —manufactured by Bernardi Impianti International offers different solutions for production capacity (from 60 to 400 t/h) and for installation (on concrete bed or faster on steel beams).

Aim of this plant is to produce hot mix in a continuous process made in a single productive unit.

The drying of the aggregates is made in concurrent rotating drum smokes and aggregates flow in the same direction.

The entire CEM group works in vacuum; this is a very important condition for both the combustion and the drying process.An electronic system guarantees a perfect setting of the vacuum, that means:

1. maximum yield of combustion.
2. increase of burner efficiency.
3. reduction of the quantity of gases to be filtered
4. saving of energy
5. technological advantage

The plant can work and produce with only one operator (as well as another worker who loads the feeders).

The control cabin is the place where the operator works and all instruments which control and operate the plant are in this unit. The operator has the necessary instruments to set the parameters requested by the production process, determining: production output, quantity and quality of the product, final temperature of the aggregates and so on. Once defined and set production parameters, the operator assumes merely a control function.

The continuous plant CEM can be provided with the DOSAMATIC system, which allows the optimization of the production cycle.

The DOSAMATIC system patented by Bernardi is an innovative method to dose the components in continuous Asphalt Plants.

The DOSAMATIC is not a single machine or equipment but it is a concept which involves and changes all the machines of the CEM type asphalt plant and its electronic system of control.

To avoid the usual disadvantages of the traditional continuous plants, it has been necessary to eliminate the variables of the aggregates, still keeping the great advantages of the continuous plants.

To achieve this it was necessary to provide a continuous plant with the instruments generally used in batch plants. In other words, to introduce in the continuous process the favourable characteristics typical of batch plants.

The application and the realisation of the first idea, require to provide the continuous plant with:

A) a number of weighing tanks corresponding to the number of elements to be added to the aggregates complete with their charging and transferring system devices;
B) a suitable valve to interrupt the continuous flow of the hot mix from the mixer;
C) a hopper with loading cell system and discharging gate;
D) the automatism and the control software able to operate as follows:
- weighing for deduction the materials:bitumen, filler, other elements added to the aggregates, extracting them from the corresponding hoppers, with pumps and screws
- interrupting, at certain times the flow of the hot mix in the hopper,
- recording the increase of weight of the product entering the hopper,
- recording continuously the weights of the quantities of materials added.

With the DOSAMATIC system, the bitumen has a weighing dosing system. Its dosing as well as the one of the other elements added, made with the same system, is much more sure and, above all, independent from the working temperature.
